Mario Galaxy sales reach the SKY on first week
“Super Mario Galaxy had the strongest one-week debut of any Wii game to date and has also become the best-selling Mario title ever in its first week, with U.S. sales of more than 500,000, based on internal sales figures,” said George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “It makes an easy gift choice as the holiday shopping season kicks off.”

It will be #1, until Brawl comes out…
Gamerankings.com made this game #2 now Rom… and it’s still #1 on the Wii though.
Best-selling Mario game ever? Really? Didn’t Super Mario Bros. 3 sell a million in its first week?
If I’m wrong, then it’s a big congratulations to Super Mario Galaxy on a job well done!
Also, maybe it’s just me, but I believe that from the looks of things, the U.S. seems to love Mario more than Japan! And it’s kinda shocking, if you ask me, seeing as Mario was created in Japan. You’d think this game would’ve sold better over there than it did here, but that does not appear to be the case. Looks like Galaxy sold twice as many copies over here than in Japan. I guess this means that old Mario 64 vibe still resonates the strongest in the hearts of the U.S. gamers.
What you’d expect from a highly anticapated Super Mario game since Super Mario 64?!!
True… Did you know SM64 was my first game :).
