DS Lite Redesign

Evan Wilson, an analyst from Pacific Crest Securities believes that a redesign of the Nintendo DS is complete and ready and complete.

“Our contacts indicate that a refreshed DS is complete,” Wilson said. “It is thinner (it has no GBA port), has on-board storage and larger screens. However, we do not expect a revamped Wii or DS until sales begin to tail off in all three major geographies.”

On a side note, Evan Wilson also goes to say that the highly acclaimed and “bulky Guitar Hero and Rock Band packaging are contributing most significantly to retail real estate becoming a hot commodity.”

Nintendo’s DS Lite Redesign has proved a success around the world since it was first released in Japan in March 2006, yes you read that right “2006

N0 GBA port? That’s kind of a shame. I guess larger screens make up for it though.

I think they’re removing the GBA port because of the GBA and its sales dying off.

The onboard storage will really come in handy once Wii starts offering downloadable DS Ware, though. I hope they provide GBA carts for storage for the original DS and DS Lites.
