I half-agree with whoever posted this. He didn’t actually say Goldeneye ruined gaming. It just opened the doors for more possibilities in game design.
However, I’m gonna have to contradict Reggie’s quote. If the games were se popular to everyone back in the day, then why dumb down your variety and only focus on the casuals? Isn’t your goal to unite everyone in gaming?

He doesn’t say anything bad about Goldeneye. He’s using it as a point. It’s popularity made companies focus on a specific audience. Nintendo wants EVERYONE to play.

I love the Wii, and am a hardcore Nintendo fan, but this statement really makes me think about Nintendo’s direction it is going right now. There are tons of good games, (Galaxy, Brawl, etc.) but in the near future, who knows? We may be getting stuff like Disney games all teh time. I love Nintendo, but I hope it doesn’t completely abandon more hardcore gamers, or I might place a 360 by my Wii.
thats y i got the 360. im getting a wii later next year when some better first party games are out.

Nintendo’s losing people but gaining people at the same time. Losing people who want hardcore games, gaining everyone else. Nintendo should make a few hardcore games though, if only to whet our appetite.

What in the world are you people talking about? Do you understand that Fils-Aime was simply stating that the complexity of games has increased BECAUSE of goldeneye? You realize that he defines it in so few worlds as fairly revolutionary for the entire gaming industry? He states that it is what changed the minds of developers and companies. He then goes on to champion gaming of a more simple degree. Which, if you think back to your NES or SNES days (if you were so lucky to have them. If not, you don’t have much of a say on this subject) and take into mind what Reggie meant, really. There were video games before FPSes, and they were a hell of a lot better than 90% of the garbage that reaches market now.
If anyone even thought for a glimpse of a second that there was a malicious statement in his words, you need to reread the story and disregard the obviously biased remarks of the person who posted this story. I’m sorry, but you’ve taken the entire meaning out of context.

alls reggie wants is all these pick-up-and play games. nintendo needs to increase the difficulty of their games. TP MP3 and even SMG were really easy. the games are graet but not nearly as challanging as their predescessors.

I agree. I haven’t played Prime 3 yet, so I can’t really say how easy THAT is.
But DO remember that kids want to play games that they can beat w/o being a real pro at them. So to us, these great games have to be dumbed down a bit so EVERYONE can enjoy them.

PRECISELY!!! The 360 isn’t just a systems full of shooters, but it’s a system with the BEST shooters.
But other than the shooters and some sports….. Xbox ain’t shit.
Sony gets all the Hit or Miss shooters when MS gets the Hardcore, bloody, chop em’ in half, blow his mother frackin’ brains out, shooter games that are hard not to love.
