Did Sony Burn Nintendo?

July 31st, 2008

VB: How do you view Nintendo’s success? Do you want their gamers?
SY: Yes. It’s a great success story. They’re focused on easy to pick up games. With great game play. At one point, Nintendo decided in the last generation that they wanted mature audiences on the GameCube. That made it crowded. With the Wii, they then made the decision to focus on what they do best. That really helped separate the focus of the three platforms in this generation. That is helping the growth of this industry. I think Nintendo did well for themselves and they are bringing in new gamers to the industry for all of us.

To be honest I had a firm hate relationship with Sony. I admit to it. Don’t kill me. But to be honest on a N-Europe comment section for this article several users has caught on to what seems to be a “burn” from Sony.

Allenator Says:

‘they then made the decision to focus on what they do best.’ so are they trying to say Nintendo don’t make proper games well?

I caught on to that on the spot that it was sort of a burn. If you look at it on the other side there are working on everything from Zelda to Wii Sports. This has been a generation in which no console other than the Wii has tried to reach every audience. Heck look at all the different games out there for the console from Madworld, to Rayman Raving Rabbids. Nintendo ofcourse is also trying to focus on ever establish franchise. And for once this is probably one burn that is more or less sort of a complement. I am glad Sony has admited that Nintendo is a good oppenment in this generation and for the first time they finally have gotten some respect from me.
