Console Wars Heat Up in Japan

For the past year, Japan has been Nintendo’s stronghold with the widely successful DS and Wii consoles. However, Sony doesn’t seem to be out yet. As the launched the PSP slim and Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core, the PSP is making a steady comeback against the all-powerful DS. Now it seems the PS3 is trying to follow in the PSP footsteps as Enterbrain announced on Friday that the Wii outsold the PS3 2-1 in the month of October. While you may be asking how this shows a PS3 comeback, just look at June where the Wii outsold the PS3 6-1. While this probably isn’t making any Nintendo Executive cringe, it is showing that the Wii isn’t going to have a straight shoot to the top this generation like many believed it would. While the upcoming holiday season will cause more shake-ups, gamers can be guaranteed that no one is going to be walking away with the crown easily and competition will ensue. However this can be easily looked at as a positive thing as competition is almost always the consumers best friend.
CONSOLE SALES IN JAPAN FOR OCTOBER
